Formed in the summer of 2004, Radio Free Network is a loosely-organized collective of musicians, artists, writers and technologists who collaborate to organize, establish and support community-based online broadcast initiatives.
With numerous projects underway, Radio Free Network is advocating the use of Open Source and free software technologies to enable communities and organizations to share their collective cultural wealth both locally and globally.
There is a wealth of culture available in small towns and community halls all over the world, but unless you live there or you get invited to participate, most of this cultural wealth remains exclusively within the community. Radio Free Network aims to liberate this cultural wealth and redistribute it to the masses.
Most importantly, Radio Free Network is about empowering individuals and communities to set and meet their own media broadcast agendas outside of the corporate media monolith.
